Chip concentrates his practice on healthcare compliance, reimbursement and operations. He is licensed in Virginia and Indiana and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)® by the Compliance Certification Board. He regularly counsels hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and other healthcare providers on the constantly changing laws and regulations governing payment from Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and commercial payers.
Chip also represents healthcare providers in defense of audits and investigations conducted by government contractors, commercial payers, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), and the Department of Justice (DOJ). In addition, he helps healthcare providers mitigate their risk under the False Claims Act by conducting internal compliance investigations and preparing self-disclosures to the government.
Prior to joining Hancock Daniel, Chip was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. While on active duty, he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he earned a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat “V”. He later deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, also in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning from his second deployment, Chip was selected to join Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Chip graduated from the first class of the Marine Special Operations Forces Individual Training Course in 2009 and later served as the Team Leader for Marine Special Operations Team 8333.
