Davis Powell is an associate in Hancock Daniel’s litigation section, where he focuses on defending healthcare professionals in malpractice cases. He also represents businesses and individuals facing government investigations and enforcement actions. As a former state prosecutor, Davis has extensive experience in criminal law and procedure, and he often advises clients on matters such as subpoena responses, compliance, and law enforcement investigations. He also represents individuals facing criminal charges.
Prior to joining Hancock Daniel, Davis served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond. He built strong litigation skills by trying dozens of bench and jury trials, and also worked closely with law enforcement in coordinating investigations and grand jury proceedings. Davis also led the office’s asset forfeiture unit, where he spearheaded civil actions to recover the proceeds of illegal activity.
Davis draws on his extensive litigation experience to provide effective, common sense representation to his clients. “There are no shortcuts in preparing a case for trial,” Davis says. “The experience I gained as a prosecutor allowed me to develop insights into trial work that I continue to rely on in my practice at Hancock Daniel.”
