Davis Powell is an Associate in Hancock Daniel’s litigation section, where he focuses on defending healthcare professionals and institutions in all phases of regulatory, civil, and criminal litigation. He routinely represents medical professionals in civil malpractice cases as well as in matters before the various state licensing boards. As a former state prosecutor, Davis also has extensive experience in criminal law and procedure, and he often represents clients on matters such as government investigations, enforcement actions, and state and federal criminal charges.
Prior to joining Hancock Daniel, Davis served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond. He built strong litigation skills by trying dozens of bench and jury trials, and he worked closely with law enforcement officers in coordinating investigations and grand jury proceedings. Davis also led the office’s asset forfeiture unit, where he spearheaded civil actions to recover the proceeds of illegal activity.
Davis draws on his extensive litigation and prosecutorial experience to provide effective, common sense representation to his clients. “There are no shortcuts in preparing a case for trial,” Davis says. “The experience I gained as a prosecutor allowed me to develop insights that I continue to rely on in my practice at Hancock Daniel.”
