To remain profitable in today’s healthcare market, keen strategic planning is a priority for all providers. Whether an organization plans to establish a new service line, discontinue underutilized services or qualify for more favorable Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, it must navigate through a complex array of regulatory filings and approvals. Clients rely on Emily Towey’s expertise to provide the right steps and the right timing to avoid delays in project implementation, or even worse, large gaps in reimbursement and cash flow.
“I partner with healthcare organizations to provide regulatory support during both the strategic planning and implementation phases of all types of development projects,” says Emily. Her experience in Certificate of Need, Licensure, and Medicare and Medicaid Enrollment and Certification has helped numerous clients develop and adhere to user-friendly project timelines, complete regulatory filings, troubleshoot regulatory approval processes and advance their projects before regulatory agencies. “Our goal is to make what is typically an overwhelming and burdensome project seem like a breeze for our clients,” she adds. “I’m here to serve as an effective advocate for our clients before the agencies that regulate them and to keep them from getting bogged down in bureaucratic red tape so they can focus on their business operations and patients.”
Emily routinely assists hospitals, post-acute care providers, physicians and other healthcare organizations with regulatory filings in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other transactions. She has helped numerous hospitals obtain Medicare approval for IPPS exclusion of inpatient psychiatric and rehabilitation distinct part units. She has also represented hospitals before CMS on matters involving Critical Access Hospital and Sole Community Hospital status.
