Lionell Spruill Sr. Defeats Joe Lindsey in Firehouse Primary for State Senate

Del. Lionell Spruill Sr. will be moving from the state House to the Senate next year following his win Saturday against Del. Joe Lindsey for an open state Senate seat. The two Democrats competed to fill the seat of Kenny Alexander, who vacated it after being sworn in as Norfolk mayor. There will be no Republican challenger in November, so Spruill will become a senator following 22 years in the House of Delegates. Read more.
