HD Gives back is a community service initiative with a mission to donate time and resources to the communities we serve in each of our office locations around the east coast. We set out to create a special “season of giving,” when we would focus on giving back to our communities especially during the time between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Here’s a little about what each office gave back to their communities during our Season of Giving!
The Ronald McDonald House
Tis’ the season! Our HD Gives Back Community Service Initiative began with our Syracuse office donating groceries to their local Ronald McDonald House. The groceries provided by our Syracuse HD Gives Back Team fed the residents of the Ronald McDonald house for one meal. A special thank you to Heather Balash for organizing our HD Gives Back initiative in this office!
Virginia Beach, VA
Carmen Reynolds, our HD Gives Back planner for the Virginia Beach office says, “We helped their team clean the 30ish dog kennels (which involved hosing, scrubbing, and drying the kennels and remaking the dog beds), we washed their dog bowls/toys, helped with laundry, and picked up poop from the outdoor kennels. Lastly, we went on a pack walk with some of the dogs to soak up the sunshine and get some exercise. From our Virginia Beach office, we had 6 people show up and the event was a great success. The folks at the SPCA were incredibly thankful to have the extra hands.”
Johnson City, TN
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee
Our Johnson City Team (Below) had ALL EIGHT of their office members attend their community service project. Brandy Balding, Office Champion said, “All 8 Johnson City team members participated in Project Thanksgiving at Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. Combined with individual volunteers and teams of volunteers from several businesses, we packed 982 boxes of food in a 2-hour period.” Wow!
FeedMore Food Bank
Six of our HD Gives Back team members prepped and packaged over 1,100 meals for the Meals on Wheels division of FeedMore to help feed seniors in the region who are not able to procure their own food this holiday season. The environment was very fast-paced and busy with individuals who were volunteering their time to help better our community and it was definitely a rewarding experience!
The Ronald McDonald House in Greater Washington D.C
Our HD Gives Back team members in Fairfax organized an awesome event with the Ronald McDonald House in the Greater Washington D.C. area. Nick Raffaele was our Office Champion and he had some amazing volunteers by his side. Nick says, “Tracie, Greysi, Hannah, Solange, Samantha and I cooked dinner at the House, and Kate (not pictured) did all the grocery shopping. We made chicken enchiladas and a quinoa/black bean/avocado/arugula salad and took a tour of the House to learn more about their mission and accommodations. It was a great event!”
Hancock Daniel encourages everyone to volunteer your time to help better our communities not just during the holiday season, but year-round. Stay tuned for many more updates from our HD Gives Back team as we create more events throughout 2020 to give back!
